About Dr. Jose Rafael Romero, FAAP, FIDSA, FPIDS, MD
Dr. Jose R. Romero has 29 years of experience in the field of Pediatric Infectious Diseases and he earned his MD from the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara. After completing both an internship and residency in Pediatrics, he went on to complete a fellowship in Infectious Diseases, all at the SUNY/Stony Brook University Hospital. He also completed another fellowship in Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and today, this expert is board-certified in Pediatric Infectious Diseases and Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics. Formerly, this expert served as a Tenured Professor of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and as the Secretary of Arkansas' Department of Health. He currently serves as an Emeritus Professor of Pediatric Infectious Diseases and as the Co-Leader of the Translational Research Institute at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Since June of 2022, he has also served as the Director of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases.
