About Dr. Carl Ernest Freter, FACP, MD, PhD

Dr. Carl E. Freter has 35 years of experience in the fields of Hematology and Medical Oncology. He earned his BA in Biology from the University of California San Diego and both his MD and Ph.D. in Biochemistry from a combined program at the Washington University School of Medicine in Saint Louis. After completing an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Stanford University Medical Center, he went on to complete a fellowship in Medical Oncology at the National Cancer Institute. Today, this expert is board-certified in Medical Oncology and Internal Medicine. Formerly, he served as an Associate Professor in the Division of Medical Oncology at the Georgetown University Medical Center, as a Medical Oncologist at the North Star Lodge Cancer Center, and as the Director of both Clinical Research and the Clinical Laboratory at the Alvin J. Siteman Cancer Center. Most recently, he served as a Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine and as the Director of Research in the Division of Hematology and Oncology at the Saint Louis University School of Medicine, as well as the Interim Director of the Saint Louis University Cancer Center. He currently serves as a Physician in the Division of Hematology and Oncology at Saint Lukes's Hospital of Kansas City.
