He completed residency training at the University of Pennsylvania and St. Luke's Hospital, and fellowship training in liver diseases at Mount Sinai Hospital. He has authored more than 20 publications in the hepatology and liver disease fields, and belongs to a number of prestigious societies in the space, including the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases.
