This highly qualified, fellowship trained expert has over twenty years of experience in anesthesiology. She is a member of numerous anesthesiology societies, and has held various leadership positions in many of them. She has been presented with multiple awards for her research on obstetric anesthesia, and has over seventy peer reviewed articles and published abstracts on various anesthesiology topics. In her current position as a professor, this highly qualified expert has focused her educational vision around the need to develop a new division of Obstetric Anesthesia at a Washington State medical center. With the goal to build a strong clinical anesthesia program for a particularly high-risk obstetric service providing care to the sickest population in the Pacific Northwest of the USA, she recruited academic anesthesiologists, each with specific skills and expertise, to train obstetric anesthesiologists for a career in academic medicine. She was able to achieve this goal by demonstrating innovative leadership and mentorship, and being a role model as a clinical educator.
