In my experiences, I have worked on a few cases like this one (i.e. injury of a child with the concomitant financial impact). My assessment in such a case would be to follow an econometric model examining the parents’ background with respect to certain critical demographic factors. Referring to the literature in the field and reflecting the latest vital statistics data, an estimate would be constructed of potential lost income. A second report would contain the detailed expenses of a life care plan. Based upon physicians’ recommendations as to frequency of treatment, prescription of drugs, and possible future surgical interventions, a projection of care expenses would be developed. I feel confident that I could contribute to this case as I am an experienced forensic economist, and I have been active in this field since 1970. I have prepared reports for an average of half a dozen cases per year, testifying in court twice per annum. I have worked on cases ranging from personal injury and wrongful death in the course of a job, to medical malpractice in a clinical setting. My vast experiences as a forensic economist make me highly capable of reviewing this case.
