This case involves an injury to a worker on a land rig. The plaintiff was working on a land rig, and he was repairing a 23-foot pipe. While the operator was handling the machine, he went to raise the pipe, and it was raised in an alleged negligent manner. This caused the pipe to swing and hit the plaintiff in the head and shoulder. A comprehensive review would be needed to analyze the effectiveness of the preparations and precautions put in place. Relevant documents would include the OSHA report, the internal report of the accident from the company that owns the land rig, and any photos. Those records would be a good starting point for an evaluation. I have a lot of experience with these types of situations, as I have over forty years experience with drilling units, eighteen of which were spent as a drilling superintendent. I was responsible for the procedure, and supervision of the unit, as well as the implementation of a safety management system.
