This case involves an intellectual property dispute surrounding the design and development of hydraulic fracking products. It was alleged that a manufacturer of said products used trade secrets from another prominent manufacturer to design a new fracking product component. An expert in product design expert and engineering with deep experience in the fracking industry was sought to examine and analyze the technology in question and assess whether or not the plaintiff’s engineering design was infringed upon.

Question(s) For Expert Witness

1. Please briefly describe your experience in the fracking space.

2. Are you familiar with oil and gas fracking products? Please explain.

3 Have you designed or engineered products for fracking applications? Please explain.

Expert Witness Response E-032164

inline imageI am very familiar with fracking tools. I worked for 10 years in an engineering group (and eventually served as the group leader) that was performing field-scale hydraulic fracturing demonstration projects and specifically developing downhole fracking tools in the course of these projects. My team was involved with the design of several novel packer tools for use in mining applications and hydraulic fracturing. Given this experience, I feel very confident that I can compare the designs and applications and patents of similar products and opine as to whether one infringes on the other. I believe my qualifications uniquely substantiate my authority in this space. I am a member of a petroleum engineering society and currently teach a class entitled "Hydraulic Fracturing Mechanics and Applications." I have worked both privately and at the university level with hydraulic fracturing tools and applications.
